The MTV Video Music Awards are arguably the most prestigious night to honour music in the industry calendar.
Of course it’s also another chance for gorgeous celebrities to grace the red carpet and strut their stuff in delightful designs.
So who was best and worst dressed this year? Take a look below…
Kelly Rowland in Falguni & Shane Peacock
Kelly looked nothing short of fabulous in a dramatic feathered black and gold dress. A plunging neckline kept the dress sexy, whilst the long mesh sleeves added a touch of elegance. She teamed the outfit with black spiked Louboutins and sleek hair.
Selena Gomez in Julien Macdonald
Despite still being a teenager, Selena Gomez is fast becoming acquainted with fashion. She also went for a walk on the dark side in this dramatic lacy dress. The high collar kept her looking innocent, whilst the lace panelling and cut away front skirt showed her sexy side! Teaming the outfit with gold pumps made a difference from boring black, and her up-do let the dress do the talking.
Zoe Salanda in Barbara Bui
It seemed that every starlet had chosen to go back to black at this year’s VMAs. With Zoe following the dark trend in a deep v-necked dress with a beaded bodice and leather detailing. She made the outfit her own by adding in a cheeky pair of animal print heels.
Beyonce in Lanvin
Undoubtedly the MOST EXCITING NEWS EVER was unveiled by Beyonce – she is pregnant! On the fashion front, she accessorised her bump with a bright orange asymmetrical dress. Can’t wait to see how she dresses her bump for future occasions!
Louise Roe in Tibi
Fashionista Louise Roe graced the VMA’s looking like a golden goddess in a taupe maxi dress. The vibrant jewelled neckline kept the dress exciting, and her red nails and matching clutch added a burst of colour.
Demi Lovato in something sparkly
Demi choose a seriously sparkly mini dress to brighten up the VMA’s. The sequinned cocktail dress had a deep v-neck, but her modesty was covered by her tumbling waves. Silver platforms gave her height and glamour appeal.
Nicki Minaj in Gareth Pugh
Well, it’s defiantly interesting! This creation was crazy, with a multi-coloured wig, odd mask, mirrored dress and chain of stuffed animals… trying to out do Gaga’s meat dress?!
Jessie J in another weird concoction
Crutches didn’t hinder Jessie J’s outfit here, she wowed in an odd way. Wearing a strapless embellished body, with just white footless tights and glittery slippers, she certainly sparkled. But for the wrong reasons!
Katy Perry in Atelier Versace
Whilst Katy Perry’s outfits are usually fun and fabulous, her pink hair ruined this one. Usually her sleek black locks make her outrageous outfits look kooky and glamorous. But the mix of a Japanese Geisha dress, pink heels and matching hair was a bit too much.
Adele in Barbara Tfank
Now this look by Adele isn’t awful, but it also doesn’t do anything for her voluptuous figure, and her 60’s inspired hair looks too old-fashioned. The orange piping on her heels and the embellished bib on the dress, however, do look great.
Lady Gaga/Joe in Dior Homme
So, Gaga really is a bit gaga, dressing up as her alter-ego Joe for the music awards. There isn’t much to describe her style here, apart from very Gaga…
Britney Spears in Moschino
Britney isn’t on this worst dressed list because she look awful, but her accessorising could do with some work. Whilst her sequinned black dress is perfect, the belt isn’t needed and the patent calf-length boots cut her legs off. A pair of basic black heels, or even spiked like Kelly Rowland’s would have looked great.
Miley Cyrus in Roberto Cavalli
Miley seems to get the red carpet look wrong over and over again, this time looking like she’s stepped out in something her loony gran created. The odd faded multi-print dress isn’t pretty, but the style of the dress is.The up-do looks very glamorous and her silver jewellery sparkles, the dress just needs to be either all one print or a block colour.
